LEESBURG – Home building supplier Blackton, Inc. is expanding its operations in Leesburg by building a 17,000-square-foot structure on seven acres it has purchased in an industrial park at West Main Street (State Road 44) and County Road 468.

“This building is situated and designed to help us streamline shipping and receiving with drive-through access,” said Michael, “Micky” Blackton, chairman and CEO, in a press release announcing the expansion.

The company had leased a 15,000-square-foot location in Leesburg in 2020 and expanded that by 10,000 square feet the following year. That facility will be vacated.

The family owned business, which began operations in 1956, is headquartered in Orlando. It provides roofing and flooring products. The firm employs 30 people in Leesburg.

The company announced that it may build as many as five additional buildings in Leesburg and has already purchased three parcels of land and is looking to buy a fourth.

The new site will speed up service to new and existing customers in Alachua, Lake, Marion and Sumter counties, including The Villages.
