Home Depot has activated its hurricane command center at its Atlanta-based headquarters in Cobb County.

Channel 2′s Justin Carter got an inside look at how the major operation works as Home Depot works to deploy supplies to hard hit areas impacted by Hurricane Ian.

More than 300 employees are working behind the scenes to make sure supplies are available in Florida.

“It is a massive coordinated effort to make sure we’re taking care of our associates, customers and communities,” Capel said.

Mark Healy is a senior director and says the team gets weather data updates every six hours.

“You see these bands? That has the time when the tropical storm wind forces will be hitting at a maximum level.”

The data then lets employees know which stores they need to close and which stores needs additional supplies.

“What store impacts there could be, what distribution, what logistic impacts there will be,” Healy told Carter.

More than 450 truckloads of emergency product has been delivered because of what these employees do here in the metro. The supplies include everything from generators to tarps, flashlights and lumber.

“We won’t stop,” Capel said.
