OKWU's Dylan Phillip bowls over a defender earning two of his six points during action this season against Southwestern.

Dylan Phillip’s nickname on Saturday afternoon might have been the Crash Compactor.

Despite playing just 15 minutes off the bench, Phillip poured in 17 points, grabbed four rebounds and handed out four assists in a convulsion of mashing efficiency for the Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s basketball team, which is coached by Donnie Bostwick.

Jaden Lietzke also dialed in a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Brandon Bird canned 14 points in the 87-59 victory at the Mueller Sports Center.

Earlier on Saturday, the OKWU Lady Eagles’ basketball team scooted back onto Victory Highway by knocking off the Avila women, 70-65.

Following are summaries of both games:

Frazier shot nearly perfect (5-of-6) from the field.

MaKayla Watkins and Brittan Garrett contributed five and four assists, respectively, while Sydnee Schovanec poured in eight points.

OKWU, which is coached by Grace Hadley, made an clutch rally the final minute.

Frazier dialed in a layup with 54 seconds remaining to push OKWU into the lead, 66-65.

At the 19-second mark, Porter poured in two free throws to wide then lead to 68-65.

After Avila missed a shot — on a blocked shot by Jeffries — Avila fouled Porter again.

She flushed both charity tosses to extend the margin to five points, 70-65.

Avila then turned the ball over and OKWU held on.
