Team River Runner Events — 10 a.m. Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 9-10. Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, 301 Riverlands Way, West Alton, Missouri. Saturday Team River Runner will have its national Kayak Football championship. Veterans from TRR (5) regions with a variety of disabilities, teamed with veteran safety boaters, will be traveling to St Louis from across the country to compete. Some of the disabilities include amputations, blindness, PTSD, paralysis, etc. These folks will utilize the TRR adaptive kayak equipment to get them on the water for the competition. Sunday, the TRR group will participate in another event in coordination with USACE and the Mississippi River Water Trail.

Flutter Farm Butterfly Festival — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Southwestern Illinois College Red Bud Campus, 500 W. S. 4th St., Red Bud. SWIC’s Butterfly Festival will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the insects and pollinators that surround us, but in family friendly way. Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fun Walk — 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 14. Moody Park, Fairview Heights. The event honors and celebrates the brave patients of the oncology center, as well as the supporters who have provided invaluable aid and assistance during these difficult times. This event is free for everyone. It is a 1.5-mile walk through the park (rain or shine). Participants will receive an event bag and other health information.
