Homestead to hold Revolutionary War reenactment Saturday

Aug. 25—COVENTRY — Travel back in time and experience the American Revolutionary War at the Nathan Hale Homestead on Saturday.

This Revolutionary War reenactment is called Redcoats, Rebellion and the Hale Homestead: An 18th- Century Encampment. The event will take place from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. at the homestead.

Those who attend the event will get to visit the encampments of both British and Continental Troops.

Attendees will be treated to tactical horse demonstrations. They will also have the chance to meet the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States: George Washington.

Guests will also be able to watch as the reenactors act out the typical daily lives of soldiers and perform tactical demonstrations of period weapons. Attendees will even get to witness a reenactment of a Revolutionary War battle.

Patrons will also be able to visit with 18th century crafters, meet a Revolutionary War field doctor, play colonial games, shop at Sutler Row and much more.

Entrance to the homestead as well as a tour of the house is included with the price of admission.

Members of Connecticut Landmarks, a statewide network of 12 significant historic properties, will also have the opportunity to go on a special tour to learn about the historic preservation projects at the homestead. In addition, members of Connecticut Landmarks will be able to visit the British camp with a commanding officer.

Admission to Redcoats, Rebellion and the Hale Homestead: An 18th-Century Encampment is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-17 and $25 per family (two adults and up to two children).
