Homeworth group set for Knox Township Festival

A large committee has gathered for months to prepare the 2022 Knox Township Festival, which goes off on July 23 at the North Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department fire house.
A large committee has gathered for months to prepare the 2022 Knox Township Festival, which goes off on July 23 at the North Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department fire house.

The hard work of the Homeworth Community Group will culminate July 23 in the 2022 Knox Township Festival at North Georgetown Community Pavilion.

The event, at North Georgetown Fire Department, will run noon to 10 p.m.

Events kick off with George D. Worth Color Guard from North Georgetown Post 574 and the raising the flag as the national anthem is sung along with an opening prayer.

Background bluegrass music will be playing all day courtesy of Kerry and Todd Varble.

Events will continue with the traditional car show from noon to 3 p.m., and the Garden Tractor Pull from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

New this year will be the baby contest, at 3 p.m. in front of the Mac Trailer Stage. Those who register need to check in by 2:15 p.m. Deadline to enter is Wednesday on the Knox Township Festival event page on Facebook. Age groups are 6-12 months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months. Kids wristbands can be purchased for $5 at the Homeworth Community Group ticket table and used for unlimited visits to bounce houses, mini golf hole, along with the train ride and the Kiddie Tractor Pull.

A highlight of the event is the dueling mechanical bulls, which is $5 per ride and will challenge riders from 5 to 9 p.m.

Hot air balloon lift rides will be available, weather permitting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for $10 per ride.

The dunk tank will be available all day. Also on hand will be the gun and cash raffle. One-thousand tickets will be sold at the ticket table.

Burning Blue Band will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. The festival will end with Southern Roots Tribute Band, on stage from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Those attending should bring a lawn chair.
