Homicide investigation leads to man's dealing arrest, seizure of pills

MUNCIE, Ind. — An investigation of a homicide in Muncie early Wednesday led to the Thursday arrest of a Muncie man on drug-dealing charges.

According to an affidavit, a vehicle that was reportedly seen in the area of Wednesday's shooting — which claimed the life of 29-year-old Tristan Nathaniel Twilley Jr., found slain in a house in the 1300 block of East 10th Street — was later observed parked in the 1400 block of West 13th Street.

That led to the Thursday afternoon arrest, in a traffic stop, of Dayten Eli Abram, a 21-year-old Muncie man, as he drove the vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma with Florida license plates.

Found in the pickup truck was a large bag holding more than 1,500 blue pills. The affidavit said the pills were believed to be "counterfeit oxycodone pills that are commonly made with fentanyl."

A handgun was also found in the vehicle, along with a black bag containing $8,749 in cash.

City police reported they found other pills being carried by Abram, including 108 of the "oxycodone counterfeit" pills, and a variety of narcotic pain medications.

The court document indicated Abram "consented to a DNA swab" and spoke with investigators "about the homicide that recently occurred with his friend" before being taken to the Delaware County jail.

The Muncie man was later released after posting a $74,000 bond. He had been preliminarily charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance smoking instrument.
