Homicide suspect in custody after chase ends in Trotwood

A homicide suspect is in custody after a chase that started in Dayton ended in Trotwood Wednesday evening.

Around 8 p.m. Dayton officers located a red truck that belonged to a suspect wanted in a homicide, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Spires with Dayton police.

The pursuit started in west Dayton and ended at the intersection of Salem Avenue and Denlinger Road in Trotwood.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be checked out.

Spires said he was unable to release the identity of the suspect or the homicide they are suspected to be involved in.

Three Dayton cruisers were involved in the chase and no other agencies were involved, according to Spires.

He spoke about the dangers of chases like these.

“You try to get the individuals off the street so they don’t cause harm to anyone else. When they don’t pull over it jeopardizes not only citizens’ safety but officers’ safety. Difficult situation to be involved in,” he said.
