Homosassa woman was killed Saturday in single-vehicle crash in southwest Marion County

A Homosassa woman was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in southwest Marion County, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the report, the vehicle was traveling south on Southwest 180th Street and crossed the intersection at County Road 484 onto the private driveway of Cannon Farms. The vehicle struck the driveway gate, several fence posts and several trees, the report said.

The driver, 27, was pronounced dead on the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue Lt. Larry Waldren at 8:47 p.m. The vehicle's four passengers — three Dunnellon women ages 18, 19 and 25, and a 22-year-old Beverly Hills resident — all suffered serious injuries. None of the vehicle's occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
