Hong Kong is offering 135,000 free airline tickets to residents of Southeast Asia as part of a campaign to stimulate tourism after COVID-19 travel restrictions were lifted.

The Airport Authority of Hong Kong (AAHK) previously announced the “World of Winners” campaign, offering 500,000 free tickets for travelers around the world to visit the city as it reopens after almost three years since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The move is part of a $2 billion “Hello Hong Kong” travel revitalization plan to revive the city’s tourism. The AAHK began sponsoring free tickets in 2020 as part of pandemic relief measures for the city’s aviation industry.

The airline tickets will be distributed by Hong Kong-based airlines, including Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines.

The AAHK will give away 135,000 tickets in the Southeast Asian markets, including the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia.

Tickets will be up for grabs starting this Friday.

The campaign will be giving away round-trip economy-class tickets along with special offers and discounts for hotel accommodations, shopping and entertainment in Hong Kong.

To apply for a free ticket, applicants must visit the “World of Winners” website, where they must enter their departure location and select a ticket from either Cathay Pacific or Hong Kong Airlines. Southeast Asian residents must then follow further sign-up instructions for their chosen airline.

After the Southeast Asia markets, the campaign will continue into Northeast Asia, Mainland China and other areas.

On Wednesday, AAHK Chief Operating Officer Vivian Cheung noted that Hong Kong is eager to welcome visitors from around the world.
