Hong Kong Protesters Hurl Petrol Bombs on Chinese University Campus

Protesters and police battled at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on November 12, with protesters erecting barricades and hurling petrol bombs toward officers, and police responding with tear gas.

The footage here also shows protesters carrying someone who appears to be injured.

Local media reported that police fired tear gas on the No. 2 Bridge after protesters threw projectiles.

The violence came amid another day of protests that saw office workers line the streets in support of a flash protest held on Connaught Road and surrounding areas.

The clashes followed violence on Monday that saw a man set alight during a confrontation and a protester shot at point-blank range during a tussle with a police officer.

Anti-government demonstrations in Hong Kong have been ongoing since April, prompted by a proposed extradition bill that would have allowed criminal suspects to be transferred to mainland China. The bill was formally withdrawn in late October. Credit: Campus TV, HKUSU via Storyful
