Honkai: Star Rail 1.6 drops 27 December with FREE 5-star Dr. Ratio, plus Ruan Mei, Xueyi, and tons of new content
All Honkai: Star Rail players will get the 5-star Imaginary Hunt character Dr. Ratio for FREE as a reward for the game's recent haul of best mobile game awards.
Trailblazers, we'll be eating good this month! Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6 will be released on 27 December and includes new characters Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, and Xueyi plus updates to the Simulated Universe and Memory of Chaos, a new map location, and tons of other new conten.
And, best of all, every player will receive the new 5-star character Dr. Ratio for FREE!

Yep, you read that right! As thanks for the many awards that Honkai: Star Rail has amassed this year — and Dr. Ratio's mission to bring education to the masses — you can obtain him as a free 5-star reward as long as you have completed the Trailblaze Mission "Blue— A Moment of Peace" and have unlocked the mailbox function.
Players will have from the beginning of version 1.6 to version 2.1 to obtain Dr. Ratio for free. He can also be acquired through traditional means through the limited-time Warp in the second half of version 1.6.

Enter Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, Xueyi
Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6 will feature three new playable characters: the 5-stars Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio as well as the 4-star Xueyi.
Ruan Mei will be the banner 5-star for the first half of the version alongside a rerun for the 5-star Wind Destruction character Blade. Xueyi will also be one of the rate-up 4-star characters in this half.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ratio will be featured in the second half alongside the beautiful 5-star Lightning Nihility character Kafka. Here's what we know about these new characters so far!
Ruan Mei
Ruan Mei is the 81st member of the Genius Society, an exclusive group of the most brilliant minds in the universe gathered by the Aeon of Erudition Nous, and is one of the co-creators of the Simulated Universe.
Ruan Mei wields the Ice element and follows the Path of Harmony, having a knack for exploiting an enemy's elemental weakness. She is the first character that is able to buff the Weakness Break Efficiency and Break Effect stats of her allies, on top of constantly providing DMG and Speed buffs to her teammates.
As the game's limited 5-star Harmony character, Ruan Mei empowers her allies unlike any other and will be a very valuable addition to any account.
Dr. Ratio
Dr. Ratio is a member of the Intelligentsia Guild, another faction devoted to Nous that is at odds with the Genius Society for their belief that all knowledge should be freely shared with the masses instead of being exclusive to a few select individuals. Dr. Ratio is a firm believer in making education and knowledge accessible to the universe — though he also comes off as very self-centred — which earned him the ire of the Genius Society member Herta.
Dr. Ratio wields the Imaginary element and follows the path of The Hunt, able to output a massive amount of single-target damage with follow-up attacks. Players will need to make good use of debuffs, as the more debuffs an enemy has will increase the chance that Dr. Ratio will unleash his powerful follow-up attack.
Since Dr. Ratio will be given to all players for free, it'd be a waste not to use his powerful repertoire of abilities. With someone like Topaz to buff follow-up attack DMG alongside him, the good doctor's arrival will be a blessing from the stars to anyone in need of a powerful damage-dealer!
Xueyi
Xueyi is an esteemed judge of the Xianzhou Luofu's Ten-Lords Commission, charged with the duty of detention. She is also the eldest sister of Hanya and remains close to her, even if she no longer has a flesh body and is instead a consciousness inhabiting a puppet body gifted to her by the Ten-Lords Commission.
Xueyi wields the Quantum element and follows the Path of Destruction, boasting attacks that greatly reduce the Toughness of enemies and ignores their elemental weaknesses. With someone like Ruan Mei buffing her Weakness Break Efficiency and Break Effect, Xueyi has the potential to rival the power of 5-star characters!
Return to the Herta Space Station with an all new area
The main event for Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6 will take place in a new area within Herta Space Station called the Seclusion Zone. Here, Ruan Mei conducts secret experiments with clone cultivation, leading to the appearance of a Swarm King prototype and a fierce Swarm Disaster entity.
Trailblazers will be also able to witness Ruan Mei's experimentation in action as well as discover more of her story in the Continuance Mission: Crown of the Mundane and Divine in this new area.
Simulated Universe expands with new Path of Erudition
With Ruan Mei entering the picture, the Simulated Universe will be receiving a major update in the form of the Gold and Gears DLC! This update will see the addition of the Path of Erudition as Ruan Mei has developed a simulated Nous and frozen space-time just before the demise of Genius Society member 27 Emperor Rubert.
In Gold and Gears, players will undertake experiments with separating dice from Paths. The dice come with six slots for equipping various powerful Dice Face effects that can be unlocked by facing different challenges.
New challenge mode Pure Fiction arrives, Memory of Chaos expands
A new permanent challenge mode, Pure Fiction, is being added to the Forgotten Hall as the new periodic challenge players can complete to get some sweet, sweet Stellar Jade. Pure Fiction will see waves of enemies continously respawn and players will earn points for every enemy they defeat and the more damage they deal within each cycle.
Pure Fiction and Memory of Chaos will now rotate every two weeks in between each new update in the Forgotten Hall.
In addition, Memory of Chaos will expand with the additions of Stages 11 and 12 for a more difficult challenge and even better rewards! An autoclear function will also be added to let players breeze through the first few stages and immediately get to the later stages where the real challenges lie.
New Forgotten Hall stages will also be added and players can receive the 4-star Quantum Abundance character Lynx for free by completing Stage 2 of this expansion.
New events
Honkai: Star Rail also features new events like the Critter Pick Scavenging event, where new adorable creatures will need to be cultivated and raised by Trailblazers. As part of this event, players can even complete challenges as Peppy, Asta's adorable pet dog, and gain an adorable new companion with a design based on beloved playable characters!
There's also the Virtual Scent Venture event, where players will battle past enemies — with fun and challenging twists — to earn rewards! And, of course, there will also be reruns for the always-welcome Gift of Oddysey log-in event for 10 free Star Rail Special Passes and the Planar Fissure event for double the Simulated Universe and Cavern of Corrosion relic rewards!
Honkai: Star Rail is currently in the second half of version 1.5 with the Physical Erudition character Argenti as the banner 5-star character. The second half of this update also feature the debut of the 4-star Physical Harmony character Hanya.
After version 1.6 comes the massive version 2.0 update in February 2024, which will see the release of a new planet in Penacony as well as three new characters in Black Swan, Sparkle, and Misha.
