Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse has unveiled a first look at the gameplay for upcoming 4-star character Luka in a short video showcase in Summer Game Fest 2023 on Friday (9 June).

Luka wields the Physical element and follows the Path of Nihility. He is slated to be released in version 1.2 alongside the highly-anticipated 5-star characters Kafka and Blade.

HoYoverse first revealed Luka will be an upcoming playable character via drip marketing back in late May. With that said, his existence was already known when the game launched due to his presence in an existing Light Cone and in-game lore references.

Luka resides in Belobog’s Underworld and is a member of Wildfire. However, he is most known as a star boxer in the Boulder Town Fight Club, recognizable by his mechanical right arm.

While Luka’s iconic mechanical arm does not particularly stand out in his splash art, his gameplay reveal shows that it becomes more menacing while in combat with a noticeably bigger fist and a pair of rocket boosters at the end of the forearm.

Luka’s ultimate animation even shows him charging full force at an enemy and unleashing a massive attack. You can check out Luka’s first gameplay reveal below.

Not much is known about Luka outside of what HoYoverse has officially revealed. But as a Nihility character, we can safely assume that his kit will revolve around debuffing enemies and dealing damage-over-time.

The aforementioned Light Cone, ‘Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat’, which seems to be Luka’s signature, also helps to shed some light on what his kit will look like.

This Light Cone has a DEF main stat and passively inflicts attacked enemies with the Ensnared debuff, which reduces their DEF. From this, we expect his kit to be geared towards being a DPS focused on dealing Physical damage-over-time while also reducing enemy DEF.

Honkai: Star Rail version 1.2 as well as Luka, Kafka, and Blade is expected to be released in mid-July. Given that Luka is a Nihility character, we can also make a guess that he will be on the banner of fellow Nihility character Kafka.

Honkai: Star Rail is currently in the second half of version 1.1, featuring the Quantum Nihility character Silver Wolf as the banner 5-star. The Quantum Abundance character Luocha will be the featured 5-star for the second half, which will also see the release of Quantum Harmony 4-star Yukong.

If you're torn on whether or not you should pull for Silver Wolf, Luocha, or Yukong, then we've got you covered.

Honkai: Star Rail officially launched on 26 April on PC, Android, and iOS. You can download the game here.
