Around the country, people will gather on Memorial Day to remember those who gave their lives for our country.

Bushnell

Where: Bushnell National Cemetery

When: 11 a.m. Monday

Details: Retired Major General Joanne Sheridan of The Villages will be the keynote speaker. General Sheridan served 35 years in the United States Army in various command and staff positions. Additionally, she was deployed in "Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom” in 2008.

Leesburg

Where: AMVETS Post 2006, 500 N Canal Street

When: 1 p.m. Monday

Details: Join the. For a Memorial Day service at the post followed by activities and a cookout.

Eustis

Where: Ferran Park, 250 Ferran Park Drive

When: 11 a.m. Monday

Details: The American Legion Post 41 in partnership with the City of Eustis, will host a Memorial Day Service to honor our nation’s fallen and pay homage to local service members. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Fruitland Park

Where: Shiloh Cemetery

When: Monday at 10 a.m.

Details: A special ceremony will take place with a lite lunch served after at the American Legion Post 219 for all attendees.

Mount Dora

Where: A.W. Peterson Gun Shop, 4255 W Old US Hwy 441

When: 6:15 a.m. Monday

Details: Feature speaker will be Commissioner Leslie Campione. A.J. Rohe will play taps and Bob Cunningham will play bagpipes. Contact Ray Powers at 407-227-6669 for more information.

Mount Dora

Where: AMVETS Riders Chapter 1992, 32201 Amvets Way

When: 7 a.m. Sunday

Details: Kickstands up at 7:15 a.m. They will ride to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell to place flags on fallen veterans.

Mount Dora

Where: Serenity Farm, 4539 Cemetery Road in Mount Dora

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

Details: Get photos on a horse, eat some barbecue, compete in the floatable boatable lake race, play on the 9 hole disc golf course, take a farm tour or an escape room scavenger hunt.

Tavares

Where: American Legion Post 76 at the Tavares Cemetery, 2055 Dead River Road

When: 8:30 a.m. Saturday

Details: Everyone is welcome assist the American Legion Post 76 in placing American flags on veterans' graves.

The Villages

Where: Veterans Memorial Park of The Villages, off Main Street at Paige Place and Lake Miramar

When: 10 a.m. Monday

Details: A special ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial Park of The Villages to honor those fallen.
