Area high school student-athletes — most of the them seniors — collectively harvested a teeming crop of postseason honors during the 2021-22 school year.

Included on the list were several All-Staters and All-Star-By-Class selections.

Most of the salutes happened as a result of a nomination-and-vote process, but in some of the individual sports athletes earned All-State status based on how high they finished.

In terms of area athletes being voted to All-State teams, the list is small but choice.

Bartlesville featured a few Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) All-Staters selected by ballot.

They included: Mia Otten (Volleyball, Large East), Aidan Howze (Swimming, East), Amanda LaFrancois (Swimming, East), Morgan Moore (Swimming, East) and Maddie Shelley (Tennis, East).

Bartlesville golfer Lisa Brown earned OCA All-State recognition by finished in the top 10 in the Class 6A state meet.

The Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association (OBCA) put the spotlight on a couple of players. Kent Girard (4A/5A-6A All-Star) and David Castillo (All-District, Region 2).

Mason Moody received the nod as an Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Class 6A All-Star East Team. Three Bruin non-seniors — Zeb Henry, Brenden Asher and Eric Olenberger — received coveted invitations to play in the Oklahoma State Games.

Pawhuska boasted two gridders selected for the Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) All-State East team — lineman Lesharo Wildcat and receiver/defensive back Dalton Hurd.

For Dewey, Jake LaSpisa and Cheyan McDaniel were named Class 4A All-Stars in men’s and women’s basketball, respectively.

Two Copan footballers received the nod for the Eight-Man All-State game — Tyrek Millien and Cannon Foreman. Copan’s Correll Record picked up a spot as an OCA Class B All-Star member.

Bartlesville High senior hitter Mia Otten proved to be an almost unstoppable force during a match last fall against Tulsa Union.

Caney Valley players appeared on the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association honor lists. Daniel Barham was named to the OBCA All-District Region 2 squad, and for the OBCA 2A vs. 3A All-Star games. Brayden Peckham garnered a spot on the OBCA Academic All-State team.

Oklahoma Union nailed down the most special postseason honors — more than half of them by basketball/baseball player Kade Hollingshed.

Hollingshed was named the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year for Region 3, made the OBCA 2A All-State team, made the OCBC Academic All-State team, and made the OCA All-State Small East team.

On the girls side, OUHS volleyball players Sara McKinney and Julia Barron both lodged into the OCA All-State East squad.
