Hopedale, Whitinsville Christian claim Dual Valley Conference track titles

Boys' track

Dual Valley Conference meet: Steven Marchionni won the 110-meter hurdles (16.4 seconds) and the triple jump (41-½), and placed second in the long jump (19-11) while leading Hopedale (104⅓ points) to the team title at Douglas High.

Jack Liberatore (132 feet) captured the discus for Hopedale, which edged Sutton by just five points to earn the first outdoor track title in school history. Willem Edwards (800, 2:10.24) and Griffin Melia (javelin, 140-3) were winners for the Sammies.

Blackstone-Millville's Corson Frost prevailed in the 200 (24.00) and long jump (21-1).

Douglas (97 points) placed third, followed by Whitinsville Christian (70), Nipmuc (66⅓) and BMR (58).

Girls' track

Dual Valley Conference meet: Molly Lashley won the mile (5:24.90) and 2 mile (12:08.97), and Cece Labonte took the 100-meter hurdles (16.29) and triple jump as Whitinsville Christian (216 points) captured seven individual events and both relays to win the team title at Douglas High.

Avery Glidden (400 hurdles, 1:10.06), Sophia Dill (800, 2:25.00) and Meadow O'Connell (javelin, 88 feet, 9 inches) were the Crusaders' other individual winners.

Led by triple winner Gianna Yordanopoulos, Nipmuc was second with 178 points. Yordanopoulos took the 100 (13.26), 200 (27.41) and long jump (15-5½).

Douglas was third with 37 points, followed by Sutton 935), Hopedale (13) and BMR (6).
