Hope's Voice online auction begins Friday

Sep. 7—The annual Bidding for Hope auction that benefits Hope's Voice, a nonprofit that works to help those who impacted by domestic and sexual violence, will begin Friday.

"Our online auction will be Sept. 9 through the 16th," said Cathy Bush, the outreach and volunteer coordinator for Hope's Voice in Daviess and Knox counties. "Right now we are working on getting the word out to the community that we are looking for sponsorships and those who would like to donate items."

Last year, Bush said the auction featured everything from gift baskets to experiences and services.

"We are looking for and appreciate all types of donations," said Bush. "We have a lot of gift baskets. There are a lot of certificates for different experiences. There's really a nice mix of items and we still have more coming in."

Registration for the auction is now open and Bush said the items will posted on the Hope's Voice Facebook page for viewing.

"We will be posting the auction items on our Facebook page prior to the auction and donors will be also be recognized on our social media," Bush said, adding when registering for auction, potential buyers will be asked to put in credit card information through a secure site but cards will only be charged if the bidder wins. Monetary donations are also accepted through the online platform or can be made in person by contacting Hope's Voice.

The money raised from the auction, Bush said, is crucial to keep Hope's Voice going in both Daviess and Knox County.

Statistics provided by the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network or RAIN, state that in America a person is sexually assaulted every 73 seconds. One in four girls and one in six boys will also be sexually abused before the age of 18.

Those wishing to give to Hope's Voice should contact Daviess County Hope's Voice Coordinator Megan Smith at msmith@cfsindiana.org. Donations can also be mailed to Hope's Voice, 1513 S. Wessell Road, Vincennes, IN, 47591.
