Hopewell Twp. man charged with murder in early Saturday shooting in Avalon

AVALON — A Hopewell Township man has been charged with murder after a brief police chase in Allegheny County early Saturday.

Allegheny County Police arrested Samuel Lee Tolfa, 32, on charges of murder, burglary, aggravated assault, unlicensed possession of a firearm and fleeing from arrest in Avalon on Saturday.

Police received reports of the shooting around 12:45 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene near the 100 block of Prospect Street, they found Jordan Lee Puskar, 21, injured with multiple gunshot wounds. According to reports, Puskar was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Tolfa fled from responding officers for a short time but was taken into custody later that morning. He is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail and was denied bail.
