Hornell man dies after suffering medical emergency, crashing into house

New York State Police say a 63-year-old Hornell man who died Saturday suffered a medical emergency before crashing his car into a North Hornell residence.

North Hornell-based State Police said Lynn J. Frost, of 37 Sawyer St., was pronounced dead at St. James Hospital following the 6:30 a.m. crash on Seneca Road.

According to troopers, Frost's vehicle was northbound when it appears he suffered a medical event. Crash Investigators said the vehicle left the road and hit a garden bed before coming to rest against an exterior door at 406 Seneca Road.

Troopers utilized an automated external defibrillator during life-saving measures, a State Police public information officer said.

In addition to the State Police, the North Hornell and Hornell fire departments, along with Steuben County Sheriff's Office deputies, responded to the scene of the crash.

North Hornell firefighters diverted traffic from a section of Seneca Road while the crash investigation took place.

Funeral arrangements for Frost are being handled by the Dagon Funeral Home in Hornell. A private memorial service is planned.
