ORIGINAL STORY (Jan. 19, 2022): Three men were shot, one fatally, in northeast Rochester Wednesday morning.

Lt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department said that officers were called to North Clinton Avenue near Kohlman Street around 11:30 a.m. after several people reported that shots were fired in the area.

Officers found two men that were shot — one man was pronounced dead at the scene and the second man was shot at least once in the upper body and suffered life-threatening injuries, Bello said.

A third man, also shot at least once in the upper body, was taken to Rochester General Hospital by private vehicle, Bello said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The fatal shooting marks the city's third homicide of 2022. Bello said it was too early in the investigation to discuss what led to the shooting.

RPD's Major Crimes Unit is investigating at the scene. No charges have been filed in connection with the triple shooting.

A stretch of North Clinton Avenue is expected to remain closed through at least mid-afternoon. Police are reviewing video footage in the area and are interviewing witnesses, Bello said.

"This is terrible, this is horrific," Bello said. "It's 11:30 in the morning on a weekday. Kids are around, schools are open. There's schools all along Clinton Avenue here, all along the block here. And there's people shooting outside."

"People have got to stop resorting to guns and violence to resolve their arguments," he said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911.
