Horror in Manhattan: Young woman killed after car and MTA bus ram into her

A woman was killed when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver and then an MTA bus in Manhattan on Thursday, cops said.

The woman, who police say was in her 20s, was crossing Third Ave. and E. 96th St. at the boundary of East Harlem and the Upper East Side around 6:15 p.m., according to police.

A “racing” black sedan slammed into her as she crossed the avenue, a witness told the Daily News.

“You could hear the impact, it was loud,” said Melissa Rivera, who works on the block.

The impact of the crash sent the woman’s body barreling toward a BxM1 bus, which also struck her.

The driver of the sedan took off, but the bus driver remained at the crash site.

“[She] wasn’t moving, [she] couldn’t move,” said Rivera. “The car got away fast. It’s nothing new in New York.”

Medics rushed the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, but she could not be saved.

Later Thursday evening at the scene, blood stained the avenue as police continued to investigate.

Police are still searching for the driver of the sedan.
