With as many film productions making their way to the Hollywood of the South, it makes sense that some of your favorite scary movies and TV shows have paid Georgia a visit.
From ghosts to ghouls, vampires to zombies, the Peach State has it all.

The Walking Dead (2010-2022)
After the zombie apocalypse breaks out, a group of survivors do what they can to stay alive. The eleventh and final season is currently airing and is set to end in November.
Where was it filmed? The Walking Dead’s Walkers have been all around Georgia, but primarily in Senoia, Atlanta and Peachtree City.
Where can I watch it? The first 10 seasons are available on Netflix. The eleventh season is airing on AMC.
Stranger Things (2016-)
“When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief and his friends must confront terrifying supernatural forces in order to get him back.” The show has been renewed for a fifth and final season in 2023.
Where was it filmed? Several locations around metro Atlanta. Hawkins Middle and High School is in Stockbridge, Starcourt Mall is actually Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth and the Byers family home was just sold in Fayetteville.
Where can I watch it? All four seasons are available on Netflix.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
“Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.”
Where was it filmed? LaGrange, Atlanta and Marietta
Where can I watch it? The ten-episode limited series is available on Netflix.
Teen Wolf (2011-2017)
“An average high school student and his best friend get caught up in some trouble causing him to receive a werewolf bite. As a result they find themselves in the middle of all sorts of dramas in Beacon Hills.”
Where was it filmed? Atlanta
Where can I watch it? All six seasons are available on Hulu and Paramount+
The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)
“The lives, loves, dangers and disasters in the town, Mystic Falls, Virginia. Creatures of unspeakable horror lurk beneath this town as a teenage girl is suddenly torn between two vampire brothers.”
Where was it filmed? Mystic Falls, Virginia is actually Covington, Georgia. Thousands flock to the area every year, including the Mystic Grill restaurant.
Where can I watch it? All eight seasons are available on HBO Max and Peacock.
Scream 2 (1997)
“Two years after the first series of murders, as Sidney acclimates to college life, someone donning the Ghostface costume begins a new string of killings.”
This is a sequel to 1996′s “Scream” and preceded three more films in 2000, 2011 and 2022, as well as a 2015-2019 TV series. Portions of the third season of Scream: The TV Series were filmed in Atlanta.
Where was it filmed? Agnes Scott College in Decatur

Halloween II (2009)
“Laurie Strode struggles to come to terms with her brother Michael’s deadly return to Haddonfield, Illinois; meanwhile, Michael prepares for another reunion with his sister.”
Note, this isn’t the original series of “Halloween” films starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. This is part of the series directed by Rob Zombie.

Fear Street series (2021)
A trilogy of films released by Netflix last summer tells the story of an ancient evil witch responsible for a series of brutal murders over the course of 300 years.
The first film is set in 1994, the second in 1978 and the third in 1666.
Where were they filmed? North DeKalb Mall in Decatur, Atlanta, East Point, Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge
Where can I watch them? All three movies are available on Netflix.
Zombieland (2009), Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
“A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting bruiser in search of the last Twinkie and a pair of sisters striving to get to an amusement park join forces in a trek across a zombie-filled America.”
Where were they filmed? Zombieland was shot in Atlanta, Valdosta, Newnan, Atlanta Motor Speedway. Zombieland: Double Tap took on zombies in Macon, Jackson and Tyler Perry Studios.
Where can I watch them? Zombieland is available on Peacock and Zombieland: Double Tap is available on Hulu.
Deliverance (1972)

This 1972 classic stars Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds.
