Horry County crash involving 3 vehicles on U.S. 501 leaves 1 dead, another injured

One person has died after three vehicles crashed near Conway Sunday evening, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.

The driver of a Nissan SUV was traveling north on U.S. 501 about 7:51 p.m. when the 30-year-old sideswiped a Nissan sedan before crossing the median and hitting a Dodge SUV, Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway said.

The Nissan SUV driver, of Conway, died at the scene of the crash near Willie James Road.

The sedan driver was not injured. The 40-year-old is from Robbins, North Carolina.

The driver of the Dodge was injured and taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Horry County Coroner’s Office, police said.

Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
