Horses take a field trip

Mar. 28—EAST LYME — Students from Bit by Bit Stable of Uncasville, take a beach ride at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Mary Fischer, stable owner and instructor, said they try to take a "field trip" to the beach once or twice a year when horses are allowed in the off season. "Some of these guys have never been to the beach," Fischer said, "we'll see how they do with the sand beneath their hooves."

Six horses along with riders and stable staff spent a few hours at the beach working on walking, trotting and getting used to the water. "It's like nature's obstacle course," Fischer said.
