Hospital ship train derailment was deliberate: prosecutors

The Los Angeles Times reports that the man has been identified as 44-year old Eduardo Moreno.

He is said to have told police “You only get this chance once. The whole world is watching. I had to. People don’t know what’s going on here. Now they will.”

He faces up to 20 years in jail.

The newspaper reports that the train ran off the end of the track and through barriers before stopping about 250 yards away from the ship, which is docked in Los Angeles to treat non-coronavirus patients and allow local hospitals to focus on COVID-19 cases.
