Hospital staff helps Ga. man tie the knot following work accident that left him severely burned

A couple is celebrating being able to tie the knot after one was hospitalized due to an accident at work.

Preston Cobb, a father of three and decorated veteran, went to work on June 30 when his family says the unthinkable happened.

Cobb slipped and fell after chemical spill at work, according to an online fundraiser set up by Cobb’s family.

Family members said 32% of Cobb’s body was burned from the chemical that had a temperature of 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. He also lost nine toes and eight fingers.

According to the fundraiser, Cobb will have one surgery every week for the next month in preparation for skin grafter surgery on both legs and arms due to the severity of the burns he received.

WJBF-TV in Augusta reported that Cobb and his fiancé Tanesha were set to be married on July 22 and had planned to postpone their wedding due to his medical care; however, hospital staff came together to make their wedding dreams a reality.

On their wedding day, WJBF said the nursing staff hired a photographer with their own money while others found flowers, gifts and food for a potluck dinner.

“Preston’s wife Tanesha Cobb, has been there for him, back and forth from the house to the hospital,” his family wrote. “She has been there for his ups and downs, taking care of our hero, our friend, a father, a cousin, brother and everything in between. She’s defiantly not his rock, but his boulder!
