Who will host the Big Brother revival? Rylan Clark and Maya Jama among favourites

During the final of the eighth season of the latest Love Island, an ITV teaser trailer confirmed that Big Brother would be revived.

Paul Mortimer, controller of digital channels at ITV, said in a statement: “This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.”

“We’re beyond excited to bring this iconic series to ITV2 and ITVX where it should especially engage with our younger viewers.”

Big Brother has produced some national treasures and big characters during its time, including Brian Dowling, Alison Hammond, Nikki Grahame and Jade Goody.

Since the big announcement, rumours have been flying around about who could be the new host. William Hill has revealed its betting odds on who could be the most likely.

Who could host the new Big Brother?

The iconic British reality show was previously aired on Channel 5 and will be coming to our screens in 2023, this time on ITV2.

Davina McCall’s famous line, “do you want another one?” stuck with a generation of viewers, and now, fans are desperate to know who will be bringing scenes from the house to our screens.

Rylan Clark is a favourite to win. The presenter found fame on the ninth series of Love Island in 2012, and was considered a “novelty act” making viewers laugh performing songs such as Gangnam Style, Take That’s Back For Good, as well as his infamous crying fit at the Judges’ Houses.

The following year, he went on to win the 11th series of Celebrity Big Brother. Clark’s presenting career began shortly after and he has hosted various shows including Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, The Xtra Factor, Up Late with Rylan and Ready Steady Cook.

Despite announcing that he hasn’t been asked to host the show, fans are still backing Clark to return to the house.

Maya Jama could also be on the cards.

The 28-year-old from Bristol burst onto our screens back in 2014 hosting a variety of football shows and The Wrap Up on MTV. Since then, Jama has enjoyed a career spanning several shows such as the MOBO awards, The Circle, and Glow Up.

When starting out in the media industry, Jama cited former BB host Davina McCall as her role model.

Other contenders touted to take over the show are former Big Brother housemate Alison Hammond (2-1), who you might know from This Morning, and Vernon Kay (7-1) who has presented All Star Family Fortunes and Just the Two of Us.

Tony Kenny, a spokesperson at William Hill, weighed in on the market: “Big Brother is back! After a long hiatus, fans across the country will be excitedly tuning in next year to watch the housemates in a new format.”

“After the icon that was Davina McCall, it’ll be interesting to see who will be picked to take over hosting duties. Maya Jama would be a great choice with her presenting skills as well as her natural charisma and ability to bounce off others.”
