Hostess Just Released Pudding Dessert Kits, for a New Way to Eat Twinkies and Ding Dongs

Some of Hostess’ most beloved snacks have taken on a new form with its dessert kits. It’s been a few months since we first heard about the Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and Orange CupCakes Dessert Kits, but now they’re gracing shelves.
The Twinkies one consists of a Twinkies instant pudding and cream filling mix; the Ding Dongs one has Ding Dongs instant pudding, cream filling mix, and chocolate-flavored drizzle; and the Orange CupCakes is made with Orange CupCakes instant pudding, cream filling mix, and orange-flavored drizzle. So, in all of these kits, the pudding is the flavor of the spongey treat and the creamy mix mimics that stuffing in the center.
To make the Ding Dongs Dessert Kit, for example, you mix the pudding mix with whole milk and refrigerate for 1 hour. Then, you mix the cream filling mix with whole milk and layer it with the pudding once it’s ready, and the chocolate drizzle completes the dessert.
Keep an eye out for the Hostess Dessert Kits the next time you hit up the grocery store, because we have a feeling these will become a new favorite.

Hostess is giving us a whole new way to enjoy our favorite spongey snacks. The brand has taken some of its most beloved treats and made them into dessert kits.
We first heard about the intriguing Hostess innovation from Instagram account @junkfoodmom. They posted a blurry picture of the dessert kits that were “coming soon.” It featured Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and Orange Cupcakes dessert kits, and described them as being layered “parfait-style.”
Thanks to another Instagram account @theimpulsivebuy, we have proof of the kits in the wild — aka H-E-B, the Texas-based grocery store. The Twinkies and Ding Dong dessert kits are in the photo, so we’ll have to see if the Orange Cupcakes one comes to life. But even if we only had these two, they look pretty damn tasty!
The Twinkies kit includes Twinkies instant pudding and cream filling mix. The Ding Dongs one consists of Ding Dongs instant pudding, cream filling mix, and chocolate-flavored drizzle. If they taste anything like the real thing, we’re in for quite the dessert.
There’s no word of a potential nationwide release date, but we’ll keep you updated because we (and our stomachs) are just invested as this as you are.
