Some Hostess SnoBalls Treats Are Being Recalled Due To Undeclared Allergens
Hostess Brands has announced a recall of one particular batch of SnoBalls treats that were mislabeled during manufacturing. An error caused the SnoBalls to be distributed in Hostess Chocolate Cupcakes packaging which led to an undeclared allergen issue because of the inaccurate labeling.
SnoBalls typically come in packs of two and are coconut & marshmallow-covered small chocolate cakes with a creamy filling. They often come in different colors like white, green, pink, blue, or orange. The recall was announced because the SnoBalls cakes being distributed with the incorrect Hostess Chocolate CupCakes packaging means coconut is not declared as an ingredient. Hostess Chocolate CupCakes only feature chocolate cake, chocolate icing, cream, and white icing. The Food and Drug Administration classifies coconut as a tree nut, making it one of the big eight allergens, hence the recall was issued.
The products in question have UPC codes of 888109010096 and batch numbers of I031321000 with the Best By date of May 27, 2021. They were distributed to convenience stores, dollar stores, and other retailers throughout the United States. If you have the mislabeled SnoBalls in your possession, the brand is urging you to dispose of them and stop consuming or contacting the place you purchased them for a full refund.
