Progressive rock: The progressive rock band Kansas is best remembered for its 1977 hit "Dust in the Wind." The song has numerous cultural references and was quoted by Keanu Reeves in the 1989 film "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."
The band, which is named after its home state, has written other classics such as "Carry On Wayward Son," "All I Wanted" and "Play The Game Tonight." Guitarist Rich Williams and drummer Phil Ehart are now the only members left of Kansas' classic lineup, but the band continues to release new material and receive praise from rock critics.
Kansas will perform Friday at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Rock: Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was fired from the band in 1990, but he's remained active with Adler's Appetite, Adler and now just goes by his name. In 2010, Adler released his autobiography “My Appetite For Destruction — Sex, Drugs and Guns N’ Roses."

Goth: Recently, husband-and-wife duo Luna Negra have been developing a goth scene in the Coachella Valley and hosting events at Bart Lounge featuring bands performing goth, deathrock, post-punk and more.
On Saturday, Luna Negra will host the bands Altar De Fey and Shrouds. Resident DJs Danza De Luna, Luna Divina and Dead Romeo will also perform.
