Festival: What's better than being in a pool? Being in a pool taking in DJ sets by Diplo, Channel Tres, Hayden James, Yung Bae and more. The pool-themed dance party Splash House returns Friday through Sunday at the Renaissance, Margaritaville Resort and Saguaro Palm Springs hotels with after-hours programming at the Palm Springs Air Museum featuring Duke Dumont, Yotto and more.

Splash House expanded to three weekends for 2022 with two more editions Aug. 12-14 and Aug. 19-21. Organizers have not announced a lineup for the August festivals.

Founded by Palm Springs residents Tyler and Kelly McLean in 2013, Splash House has become a major contributor to summer tourism in Palm Springs. From 2018 to 2019, the festivals sold out both weekends, drawing 7,000 attendees to the city. Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice, producer of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, is a partner of the event.

Rock: The all-female rock band La Luz has a unique sound combining its surf-rock influences of the '60s such as Link Wray and Dick Dale with doo-wop and girl groups. In 2003, frontwoman Shana Cleveland's poems "The Distant Thunder Roar," "The Dog Days" and "Lake Placid" appeared in the Columbia Poetry Review.

Judy: The late Judy Garland left behind memorable performances of songs such as "The Trolley Song" from "Meet Me In St. Louis," Ray Henderson and Lew Brown's  "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries" and Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler's tune "Get Happy." But who could forget Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz?"

Tribute artist Peter Mac becomes Garland and sings her songs during live performances. In 2012, Mac won the Southern California Motion Picture Council Golden Halo Award.

Indie: Since the indie-rock band Grizzly Bear went on hiatus after releasing the 2017 album "Painted Ruins," vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Rossen released his first album "You Belong There" in April.

Comedy: Aside from his memorable 2004 appearance on "The Chappelle Show," Wayne Brady is known for "The Wayne Brady Show" and hosting the TV game shows "Don't Forget The Lyrics!" and "Let's Make A Deal." He's also a singer and comedian.
