Hot putter has Luke List near top of 2022 Memorial golf tournament leaderboard

Luke List won his first PGA tournament in January as he entered his 17th year of professional golf.

He has a chance this weekend of winning his second in 2022.

List is among a crowded leader board at the end of the first round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin.

He shot a 5-under-par 67 on Thursday.

List notched six birdies with only one bogey on the day.

The Vanderbilt University graduate's putter propelled his game on Thursday as he made four putts over 15 feet.

This is List's third career first-round lead or co-lead in his PGA Tour career.

Luke List was a comeback kid in his first PGA Tour win in January

List began the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open five shots back of leaders Will Zalatoris and Westerville resident Jason Day but made seven birdies in a 6-under 66 to win the tournament.

Luke List's daughter, Ryann, asked for a PGA win

He had to exercise his patience as he waited two hours before the tournament ended and he won.

List shared that his 3-year-old daughter, Ryann wanted to see dad win a trophy.

“She’s been telling me for a long time, ‘Daddy, I want a trophy,’” List said. “And I finally got one.”

Luke List nearly won 2004 U.S. Amateur, played in 2005 Masters

List finished runner-up to Ryan Moore at the 2004 U.S. Amateur, which gave him an invitation to the 2005 Masters.

He finished tied for 33rd there, which included an ace in the Par 3 Contest.

List is currently 24th in the 2022 FedEx Cup Standings and has earned more than $2.5 million this season. He has one win and three top-10 finishes this season.
