Hot weekend in Worcester ahead with temps nosing 90 on Saturday, Sunday

Beaches and backyard pools remain the places to be this weekend, with both Saturday and Sunday set for highs of about 90 degrees.

Worcester officials are urging families to cool off at city pools, beaches and splash parks.

Weather watchers will be keeping an eye on the record books over the weekend.

The high in Worcester for any Aug. 6 is 93 degrees, reached in 1906. For any Aug. 7 in Worcester, the top temperature was reached in 1924, when the reading was 94.

There is a chance of showers for both days.
