Hotel Evacuated in 'Middle of the Night' as Tremors Felt in Mexico City
Tremors from a 6.8-magnitude earthquake recorded in west Mexico were felt in Mexico City in the early hours of Thursday, September 22.
The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake’s epicenter was in Michoacan, around 170 miles from the capital.
Video by Andre Andriolli shows people out on a street in Mexico City that night. Andriolli said he had to evacuate his hotel due to the earthquake.
The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City said a woman died after falling from the stairs as she left her home in response to an earthquake alarm.
The head of the government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, said no damage had been reported.
