Election news making you feel some type of way? Same. Between the 24-hour news cycle and flurry of one-sided social media posts, it’s a stressful time to have an opinion, let alone Internet access.

Couples therapist Steven Stosny coined the term "election stress disorder" after the 2016 election, as he wrote in the Washington Post: "For many people, continual alerts from news sources, blogs, social media and alternative facts feel like missile explosions in a siege without end." Even more so, the post-election period can also take a toll on one’s mental health, especially if the outcome is not what he or she was expecting.“The shock and anger that followed the election threatens to give way, as shock and anger usually do, to anxiety or depression,” he wrote after observing patients' behavior after the last presidental election.

If you're looking for a relaxing place to unwind (or scream!) during election week, Hotels.com has got you covered. After casting your ballot (whether it be by mail, voting early in person, or whatever way you choose to participate in democracy), you can go off the grid and hide away from your opinionated extended family members under a rock—literally.
