HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A hotel in Hoboken and one in Jersey City made a list of the top 10 hotels in New Jersey, published by U.S. News & World Report recently. And a second Jersey City hotel made the top 25.

In Hudson County:

  • The W Hotel in Hoboken, which overlooks the Hudson River, came in at number 6 in the state. The hotel is close to three waterfront parks, a children's playground, and numerous restaurants, and is a four-block walk from the train station. Its restaurant, Halifax, offers an unlimited small-plate "bubbles brunch" on weekends.

  • The Westin in the Newport section of Jersey City came in at number 7. It's also a short walk from a train station to Manhattan (in this case, the Newport PATH), as well as restaurants and the waterfront.

  • The Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson entered the top 25 hotels at number 24. It overlooks the water.

U.S. News scored hotels using a methodology that combines each hotel's industry awards with its star rating and guest sentiment.

U.S. News did not include COVID-19 data in the rankings, and noted that some hotels and resorts may be currently offering different or modified services and amenities. However, several of the major industry awards factored into the rankings take property cleanliness into account.

"The travel industry has faced many disruptions over the past two years, highlighting the need to support and recognize hotels that continue to maintain excellent standards," Zach Watson, senior travel editor at U.S. News, said in a statement.

"The 2022 Best Hotels rankings offer a dependable guide for travelers to use when organizing their next trip, whether that's in a few weeks or later in the year."
