Houma-area high school softball top 10 final rankings for 2022 LHSAA season

Here are the final top five LHSAA high school softball teams in the Houma area for the 2022 season.

1. Houma Christian School (25-4). Houma Christian’s softball season ended with a 15-9 loss to St. Charles Catholic in the Division III state semifinals in Broussard on Friday. Destiny Pierce went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. Madison Hundley went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Alyssa Cadwell, Hailey Henry, Jaydn Yesso and Jessika Duplantis contributed during postseason run.

2. Vandebilt Catholic (22-10). Vandebilt lost to state champion Archbishop Hannan 3-2 in the Division II state semifinals on Friday. Nicholls signee Kalyn Dehart pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and hit a two-run double as a batter. Frances Boudreaux, Ava Hazzard, Corin Talbot and Alexis Porche contributed to the team during its playoff run.

3. Covenant Christian Academy (18-8). The Lady Lions lost 3-1 to St. Frederick in the Division IV first round. Key players who stood out for CCA this season included Kaleigh Daze, Charlotte Lottinger, Rebecca Quick, Lorre Ledet and Izabela Trosclair.

4. St. James (19-12). The Wildcats fell to Brusly, 15-0, in the Class 3A second round. Southern University signee Chakirrious Parker led the Wildcats with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs this season. As a pitcher, she had 135 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA.

5. Assumption (13-17). Assumption lost to Beau Chene 7-4 in the Class 4A second round Thursday April 21. Sarah Alleman, Gabbie Vaughn, Kathryn Pipsair and Sadie Landry were key players.

6. H.L. Bourgeois (16-17). The Lady Braves didn't qualify for the Class 5A playoffs. Heather Triche, a University of Mobile signee, set a new school record with 15 home runs.

7. South Terrebonne (14-11). South Terrebonne qualified for the Class 4A playoffs but lost 15-0 to Belle Chasse in a first-round home playoff game. Corrin Melancon, Anna Brunet, Olivia Rhodes and Gracie Boquet were among key leaders.

8. E.D. White Catholic (12-19). E.D. White advanced to Division II first-round playoffs, where it lost to Parkview Baptist 9-5. Marianna Robichaux had two RBIs in the loss, and Bella Breaud, Olivia Cortez, Ellie Rodrigue and Carly Landry all had two hits.

9. Thibodaux (13-15). Thibodaux didn't qualify for Class 5A playoffs. McKayla Mandina, who is a West Virginia Wesleyan signee, was a team leader. Alyssa Naquin, Morgan Borne, Lana Granier and Alyssa Martinez are other team leaders from this year.

10. Terrebonne (10-16). Terrebonne didn't qualify for Class 5A playoffs, but Allie Blanchard, Blakelynn Pitts, Ciera Arceneaux, Ja'lise Stewart and Mallory Dehart stepped up in key roles this season.
