House catches fire in neighborhood south of Hickory

A house in the Abernethy Park subdivision near Hickory caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Channel 9′s Dave Faherty caught video of the flames as firefighters were arriving.

The fire, which started on the back porch, was an accident, officials said.

No other homes in the subdivision appeared to be on fire, but one neighboring home was feet away from flames.

Two dozen firefighters from more than a half dozen fire departments fought that fire for more than an hour.

The extra fire departments were called in because of the hot and humid weather affecting the firefighters.

There were no injuries.

Abernethy Park is southeast of Mountain View.
