UPDATE: House destroyed, two damaged in fire Monday evening

At least one house was destroyed Monday after a fire broke out at a house under renovation.
Around 5:30 p.m. Crews were called to reports of a dwelling house fire in the 500 block of Alaska Street, according to Montgomery County Dispatch.
District Chief Mike Fasnacht, of the Dayton Fire Department, said on scene that when crews arrived on scene, two houses were “well involved” and one of the houses was fully engulfed.
The fire started at a house that was currently under renovation. A fire investigator told Fasnacht there were recreational fires in the backyard of that house.
“The vapors from the paint caused a rapid reaction to the fire, causing a large fire in a short period of time,” he said.
The fire spread to a house to the right of the where the fire started, causing heavy damage. Investigators were going to reassess the damage to the house and determine if if needed to be demolished. All occupants were able to get out of the house, but there were believed to be pets inside, its unknown at this time if they were able to get out.

The house to the left of where the fire started sustained exterior damage, but Fasnacht said no other damage was found inside.
No injuries were reported.
