House fire in Heart of Lubbock leaves one dead, one hospitalized

One person was killed and another was hospitalized in a house fire Thursday morning in central Lubbock.

Lubbock Fire Rescue crews responded at 10:19 a.m. to a reported blaze in the 2400 block of Avenue T, immediately noticing flames coming from the home's second floor, according to a spokesman for LFR.

Firefighters located three male victims; two were transported to University Medical Center via EMS and the third one refused to go.

One person died in the hospital, while the other remained hospitalized in unknown condition, according to LFR.

Seven to eight dogs were also rescued from the fire and the South Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting four people who were displaced by the fire.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
