House fire leaves one dead in Davenport

A person died following a house fire late Friday in Davenport, fire department officials reported.

A Davenport Fire Department news release said the person was found injured inside a small house in the 2300 block of W. Second St. after firefighters put out a blaze in the living room shortly after 8 p.m.

The person died after being was taken to Genesis Medical Center East. The release did not give the individual's name, age and gender.

There were no other injuries, it said, and the cause remains under investigation.
