HGTV is on the hunt in DSM (again).

"House Hunters" filmed "A Dilemma in Des Moines," which first aired on June 7, with Thomas Payne, a real-estate agent with Century 21 Signature Real Estate in Ankeny, and Des Moines home buyers Justin Booth and Cooper Horning.

"One dreams of a modern, sleek home, while the other yearns for a quirky non-residential property, like an old commercial space," the narrator for the episode said.

"They emailed me and asked me to apply, essentially, to be on the show, I thought it was spam," Payne said. "It was kind of a whirlwind day and filming process."

Payne and the local couple looked at properties in the Beaverdale neighborhood, on Des Moines' south side and Van Meter. Originally, when Payne applied to be on the show in October, his buyers weren't actively looking but when they started searching for homes in the area, he approached them and they were "super excited about it."

"It was a lot of fun, the director was awesome and gave us some quick tips about being on camera," Payne said. "My buyers were super cool about the thing and it's kind of stressful looking at homes while you're on camera."

Spoilers ahead: which property did Justin and Cooper choose?

Payne's home buyers chose "House No. 1," a fixer upper in Beaverdale with a listing price of $180,000 that the couple purchased for $172,500.

Payne set to host watch party on June 8

Payne is hosting a watch party with his clients on Thursday, June 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Century 21 Signature Real Estate office in Ankeny, 1620 S.W. Magazine Road, but said anybody is welcome to "drop in" to the celebration.
