House Jan. 6 committee refers President Trump to DoJ for criminal charges

The House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol has elected to recommend charges be filed against President Trump and several other individuals for their actions on the day of the insurrection and refusal to cooperate with investigators.

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: Now, we want to bring you up to speed on some news out of Washington. The House Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol has referred former President Trump to the Justice Department for criminal charges. The main charges the committee alleges Trump committed are-- obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement, and giving aid or comfort to an insurrection. We'll have more on that later [INAUDIBLE] in the show.
