House Of The Dragon's magic was broken after viewers spotted a prominent green screen glove during a scene in the latest episode.

Paddy Considine stars as King Viserys Targaryen in the Game Of Thrones prequel - which features CGI dragons and fantasy lands - a character who is missing two fingers on his left hand.

So eagle-eyed fans were amused to spot two green fingers that had not been edited out in a scene where he handed a scroll to a waiting soldier.

The rogue digits were a key part of the plot in the first episode of the HBO show as King Viserys cut his hand while touching the famous Iron Throne and an infection to the wound led to them rotting away until he lost two fingers.

But in episode three, titled Second of his Name, the green sleeves on two of Considine's fingers were clearly visible.

It is not the first time the special effects team for Game Of Thrones have made a mistake.

In season eight fans spotted a paper coffee cup on a table at which Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, was seated. It was later edited out of the episode in future reruns.

After the episode aired, the Game Of Throne's Twitter account responded by joking: "News from Winterfell. The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. #Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."

House of the Dragon has already been confirmed for a second series.

Shortly after the first episode had aired, HBO announced the recommission in a tweet showing the programme's dragon logo with a blazing fire behind it, followed by a two.

It was captioned: "Fire reigns. #HouseoftheDragon has been renewed for Season 2."

The prequel series is set 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones and is based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood.

It stars Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, who is plunged into a bitter rivalry with his brother King Viserys (Considine) when the queen and their infant son both die, leading him to name daughter Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) as his heir rather than Daemon.

The series follows the history of the Targaryen dynasty and is shaping up to be just as bloodthirsty as Game Of Thrones.
