UPDATE: Houses of worship security presentation in Fort Collins rescheduled to January 19

Update, Jan. 17, 2023: The Protecting Houses of Worship event has been rescheduled and will take place Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect Road, Fort Collins.

Update, Nov. 17: The security presentation for houses of worship planned in Fort Collins for Thursday night has been cancelled due to snow. All those who have RSVP'd for the event will be notified via email when a new date has been selected.

Original: A training for faith-based institutions on different kinds of threats and how to protect their parishioners will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, in Fort Collins.

The training will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., with sign-in and light refreshments beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Congregation Har Shalom, 725 W. Drake Road. To attend, you must RSVP to Jillian Dardani at jillian.dardani@usdoj.gov no later than Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The interfaith event is open to all, with a focus on faith-based leadership and life-safety team members, according to a news release.

Law enforcement and faith-related security experts will present information about current threats, federal and local resources, safety measures and responses to potential risks, including active shooters, according to the release. Community members in attendance will also be able to ask questions.

The training is co-sponsored by the U.S. Attorney's Office and Fort Collins Police Services. The U.S. Attorney's Office is planning to host about four of these trainings across Colorado each year, according to the news release.
