Bravo celebs Heather Dubrow and Terry Dubrow, of Real Housewives of Orange County fame, celebrated their youngest child, who recently came out as transgender at 12 years old, with a message of encouragement on International Sons Day last Saturday, prompting much support online but also hateful messages from a former cast member.

“We love you, our youngest son, Ace,” Dubrow wrote on her Instagram page next to an image of a beach where Ace had been scribbled into the sand. “Our job as parents is to give our kids a safe and supportive environment so they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident, independent humans.”

She said that because their son is only 12 “with a long life ahead of him,” they would allow him to tell his story when he chooses, Pride.com, a sibling publication of The Advocate, reported.

“All we can say is Ace, we love you so much and we are proud to be your parents,” she wrote.

“Your brother and sisters love and support you too,” Dubrow concluded.

Fellow Bravo personalities Kelly Dodd and her husband, former Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal, could not pass up an opportunity to appear ignorant and bigoted.

The couple proudly take digs at the Dubrow family in a clip from their The Rick and Kelly Show podcast.

“Since Ace is a 12-year-old child with a long life ahead of him, we will let him tell his own story someday if he chooses to do so,” Leventhal repeated as he read Dubrow’s post.

“So why are you doing it, you dumb b?” Dodd interjected aggressively. “Why are you announcing to the world that your 12-year-old daughter wants to be a boy now?”

“Not for nothing, but do you really think a 12-year-old should be making decisions about the rest of their life?” Leventhal quipped.

Additionally to Ace, Heather and her husband Terry have three other children: twins Nick and Max, who are 19 years old, and Kat, who is 16. Max came out as bisexual in 2020, and Kat came out as a lesbian in 2022. Both times, their parents were supportive. Dubrow has emphasized that her family has shown the girls unwavering support.
