Housing project taking place for police cadets at former university dorm

BELLVILLE, Ill. – It was once a Belleville hotel, then a college dorm, and now it will house police in training.

The former Lindenwood University dorm is being converted into housing for cadets at the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy. The building on West Main Street has been vacant for nearly four years.

The city of Belleville bought the former Lindenwood campus, which included ‘Lynx Lodge,’ back in 2021. It’s now part of the Southwestern Illinois Justice and Workforce Development campus.
