Different studies show a massive shortage of housing nationwide, with estimates ranging from 1.6 million to more than 5 million housing units needed. A new analysis from upforgrowth.org shows metro areas like Wichita, Kansas, Muskegon, Michigan, and Decatur, Alabama were once well stocked in 2012 but had housing shortages by 2019.
