Non-profit organization Housing Works is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, which mean's its annual Design on a Dime benefit in New York City seeks to be one of the most exciting yet. The popular charity event is taking place on May 20-22 at Housing Works' three retail locations across Manhattan: SoHo Thrifts, Gramercy Thrifts, and the Bookstore, as well as online for design enthusiasts to shop one-of-a-kind collections and vignettes designed and curated by the country's top talent at incredible discounts (anywhere from 50 to 80% off).

In light of the organization's 30th anniversary, the event will partnership with Chairish to commemorate the milestone, featuring a special online sale of 30 chairs presented by 30 designers. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the organization's goal to end AIDS and homelessness, along with a new initiative to serve as a frontline effort for COVID-19 response.

Originally founded by designer James Hunniford, the designer serves as the Founding Chair and has tapped an incredible roster of design talent to bring the 2021 event to life this year. Actor and activist Patricia Arquette will serve as the event's Honorary Chair while Jamie Drake, Joy Moyler, and Young Huh will serve as the co-chairs. The event will feature items from dozens of beloved brands and designers including: Alessandra Branca with Nick Olsen, Brad Ford ID, Charlotte Moss, Eleish Van Breems, Joy Moyler Interior Design, Ken Fulk, Matt Blacke Inc., Nicole White Interior Design, Redd Kahoi, Young Huh for Benjamin Moore, among others.

“This year’s event, while reimagined for COVID safety, is also a sweet return to our beginnings," says Hunniford. "This now-iconic NYC design event started with a small group of designers at Housing Works Gramercy Shop over 16 years ago! We are looking forward to hosting part of this year’s event at the store where it all began.”

The event begins on May 20 with special VIP ticketed, in-store shopping hours at all three Manhattan locations from noon until 8 p.m. On May 21, general admission for ticketed in-store shopping, as well as online shopping, will take place from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. All locations will be open for a public sale on May 22 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tickets for Design on a Dime can be purchased online for both the in-person and virtual events.
