Houston Zoo Elephants Enjoy Pool Party Amid Record Heat

Houston has been breaking records this summer, having clocked up the hottest June and July on record; moving into a sweltering August, the local zoo’s Asian elephants seem to know just what to do: have a pool party to cool off.

The National Weather Service said July had an average high of almost 100 degree Fahrenheit. This comes after the hottest June on record.

Houston Zoo posted this footage on August 3, noting that it was the start of Asian Elephant Awareness Month. Only about 40,000 Asian elephants remain in the wild. Credit: Houston Zoo via Storyful
